Ever feel like getting your kids to spend time outside in the winter is almost an impossible task?
Bear Creek to the rescue!
I recently enrolled my kids in the Kodiak Rovers program at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, which is specifically designed for 6 & 7-year-old kids who’ve never been on skis. During the two-hour session, my boys learned the fundamentals of skiing, made new friends, breathed the fresh mountain air and had an absolute blast the entire time.
Want to get your kids out of the house and onto the mountain? Here are 5 reasons to sign them up for Kodiak Rovers:
1. Bear Creek makes it easy. You drop your kids off at the Snowsports School with their coat, winter pants and waterproof gloves or mittens, and the fantastic team at the Snowsports School takes care of the rest. There's even a mini-rental shop right inside, and the instructors will get your kids outfitted with properly-sized boots, skis and a helmet.
2. It's more than just a lesson. Yes, the program covers everything they need to know to successfully hit the slopes starting with the very basics, like how to put on your boots and skis. But as they learn the proper technique for skiing down the mountain, they'll also make friends with other kids in the group.
3. Your kids will listen --and learn! We all know that kids listen better to adults who aren't their parents, so it shouldn't be a surprise that they also take ski instruction better from strangers. In the Kodiak Rovers program, the child/instructor ratio is 2 to 1, and they are experts at teaching your kids.
4. You'll have time for yourself. You'll suddenly have two hours of free time to kill at a gorgeous resort. Incredible, right?! You can hit the slopes, grab a meal (or glass of wine!) at the slopeside restaurant, relax next to a fireplace in the Lodge, or really go all out and book a massage at The Spa.
5. The kids love it! When I picked up my boys at the end of the lesson, they were so excited to share everything they had accomplished. I heard "Mom, I rode the magic carpet!" and "Mom, I skied down the mountain!" and, finally, the best recommendation they can give, "Mom, when can we do this again?"
If you want your kids to fall in love with skiing, leave them in the capable hands of the Bear Creek Snowsports School.
