October is finally here! It's time for all things FALL and there is so much to do in Allentown and the surrounding areas. Here's Macaroni Kid Allentown's bucket list of things to do this month.
1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch (https://grimsorchard.com)
Hayrides and pumpkin picking and apple cider, oh my! Is there anything that screams "October!" more than visiting a pumpkin patch? The Lehigh Valley has some great options. Grim's Fall Festival in Breinigsville is like a fall explosion. There is literally everything you can think of. They have a huge outdoor play area for kids, yummy treats, rides, games, and of course.... pumpkins! This place can get busy, so I suggest visiting early. (Weekends through Halloween)
2. Take a Scenic Train Ride to a Pumpkin Patch (https://kemptontrain.com/pumpkin-patch-train/)
Take a quick ride to nearby Kempton to experience this special fall event. Climb aboard the train and take a scenic ride out to their very own pumpkin patch. Each child gets to pick out their own pumpkin and then decorate it when they get back to the station. (October 17th, 23rd, and 24th)
3. Check out Fall on the Farm at Rodale Institute (https://rodaleinstitute.org/events/fall-on-the-farm-2021/)
This festival is another of my family's favorites! This event stands out beyond some others due to its commitment to clean, organic food. There are yummy options to meet many dietary restrictions in addition to live music, hayrides, and activities for kids! (October 2nd)
4. Hang Out With Some Zoo Animals During Ottertoberfest (https://www.lvzoo.org/event/ottertoberfest/)
German-style music, food, beer, vendors, and animals! Sounds like the perfect way to spend a Saturday!
5. Combine Science and Fall Fun at Jack-O-Lantern Lane at DaVinci Science Center (https://www.davincisciencecenter.org/jack-o-lantern-lane/)
If the weather doesn't allow for a day out on the farm, don't worry! DaVinci Science Center's Jack-O-Lantern Lane is the answer! Check out carved pumpkins, Halloween-inspired science experiments, a color-changing circuit house, and more! FREE to members of DaVinci Science Center. (September 25th - November 7th)
