5 Things to do This Weekend in the Allentown Area

November 24, 2021

In honor of the holiday season, Macaroni Kid Allentown is bringing back a weekly article with 5 things to do each weekend in the surrounding area! This will replace the monthly bucket list article, because there is just TOO MUCH to limit it to 5 things for the whole month!

1. Attend a FREE Tree Lighting Event (https://kutztown-to-allentown.macaronikid.com/events/6191bdf45658443b5c731a76/light-up-night-2021, https://kutztown-to-allentown.macaronikid.com/events/6191bd51db7369460716fae3/coopersburg-christmas-tree-lighting)

With risk of sounding like a broken record, I love tree lightings! They're just so magical! Last weekend my family attended a tree lighting on Friday AND Saturday night, and we might just do it again! Hellertown and Coopersburg both have tree lightings this weekend. Bundle up, grab some hot chocolate, and get ready to welcome the holiday season! (Friday and Saturday, November 26th and 27th)

2. Support Local Businesses During Small Business Saturday

The Lehigh Valley is made up of so many cute towns: Emmaus, Bethlehem, Allentown, Easton, Hellertown, etc., etc. This Friday, stay home and relax with your family! Then spend Saturday strolling the streets of your favorite downtown area. Grab a coffee from a local coffee shop and stop into small boutiques and businesses to start your holiday shopping! (Saturday, November 27th)

3. Visit Christmas in Color Drive-Thru at Dorney Park (https://kutztown-to-allentown.macaronikid.com/articles/61929f9cc4eaf24481220ffe/christmas-in-color-drive-thru-holiday-light-show-coming-to-allentown)

Want to get into the holiday spirit without having to brave the cold weather? This year Dorney Park is hosting a very special drive-through light display. You can see thousands of beautiful lights while enjoying the warmth of your car! Grab a thermos of hot chocolate and enjoy a fun night out with the whole family! (Friday - Sunday, November 26th - 28th)

4. Welcome the Beginning of Hanukkah (https://kutztown-to-allentown.macaronikid.com/articles/619cfdf0989cc633c62e70bf/how-to-play-dreidel, https://kutztown-to-allentown.macaronikid.com/articles/619cfe0a6a22dd44b026978d/these-sweet-potato-latkes-are-a-hanukkah-favorite)

Hanukkah begins this Sunday evening. Welcome the holiday with a delicious recipe for sweet potato latkes, or teach your kiddos to play dreidel for hours of fun! (Sunday, November 28th)

5. Venture into Nearby Bethlehem for Chriskindlemarkt (https://www.christmascity.org/christkindlmarkt/)

Chriskindlemarkt is another one of my family's favorite holiday traditions. This giant market has everything to get you into the holiday spirit. There are vendors, music, crafts, festive beverages, and even Santa! This year, tickets are free on Friday nights between 6-8 PM! (Friday-Sunday, November 26th-28th)
