The Great Allentown Fair opens this week and runs all the way through the holiday weekend. Since 1852, the Allentown fairgrounds have been taken over by musical acts, animals, crafts, vendors, delicious food and rides. The best part? Kids under 12 are free! (Friday - Monday, August 30th - September 2nd)
2- Lehigh Valley Zoo Food Truck Festival
What's better than a day at the zoo? A day at the zoo with food trucks! For the 8th year, the zoo is opening its doors to food trucks from all over the area. In addition, Funk Brewing Company will be at the zoo on Saturday and Five Maidens Cider Company on Sunday! (Saturday - Monday, August 31st - September 2nd)
3- Movies in the Park - Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
This is a great option for slightly older children (the movie is rated PG-13). On Friday night, you can spend the evening at Lehigh Parkway watching the newest of the Hunger Games movies. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, and some snacks and enjoy a free night out under the stars! (Friday, August 30th)
4- Local Outdoor Concerts
Another weekend with outdoor concerts!!! I don't think I'll ever get tired of hanging out at a park and listening to live music with my family. This weekend's options include: Catasauqua Summer Concert Series, Emmaus Concerts in the Park, and Levitt Pavilion Summer Concert Series. (Friday - Sunday, August 30th - September 1st)
