5 Things to do This Weekend in the Lehigh Valley (September 6th-8th)

By Rebecca Seidenberger, Macaroni KID Allentown and Bethlehem September 5, 2024

1- Bethlehem Mounted Police Open House

The Bethlehem Mounted Police horses are such an amazing part of our community, and this weekend you can meet them up close and personal. During this free open house, you can enjoy live music, children's activities, and fun! A few events do require a small additional fee, including a hayride and cookout. (Saturday, September 7th)

2- Youth Vendor Craft Fair

This Saturday, head to Grange Park to support the Lehigh Valley's youngest entrepreneurs. You can shop from a variety of youth vendors while enjoying the beautiful Grange Park. (Saturday, September 7th)

3- Grim's Fall Festival and Corn Maze Opening Weekend!

What screams fall better than a trip to the pumpkin patch? How about a whole festival?! Grim's Fall Festival is an Allentown-are staple. The corn mazes, pumpkins, apple picking, apple cider donuts, and more always put me in the perfect mood for fall. (Saturday and Sunday, September 7th and 8th)

4- Monarch Tagging at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary

I typically try to keep items on this list free or low-cost, but this one looks like it is more than worth the $16 fee. This Sunday, learn how to capture, hold, and tag monarch butterflies. Then create milkweed seed bombs to help create a new habitat for them. The purpose of the tagging is to associate the location of capture with the point of recovery for each butterfly. The data from these recaptures helps to determine the pathways taken by migrating monarchs, the influence of weather on the migration, and the survival rate of the monarchs. (Sunday, September 8th)

5- Lehigh Valley Wicked Plant Fest Fall Edition

Calling all plant parents! The one and only Lehigh Valley Wicked Plant Fest Fall Edition is bringing together the plant community, artisans, food and entertainment on September 8, 2024. With 70 vendors selling a wide range of plants, plant accessories, art, candles, crystals, macrame and more, everything is hand made by local artist. There will be music by a local musician and entertainment as well! (Sunday, September 8th)
