The Lehigh Valley is a melting pot of cultures, and its vibrant dance scene just got even richer with the arrival of AfroDanceLV—a dynamic group dedicated to sharing the energy, joy, and artistry of Afro-dance with the community. As Allentown continues to celebrate diversity, this new group offers an exciting way for people of all backgrounds to connect through movement, music, and culture.
To introduce AfroDanceLV to the community, we spoke with its founders to learn more about their mission, the inspiration behind their group, and what they hope to bring to the Lehigh Valley.
How did the idea for this company come about?
The Lehigh Valley offers a wide range of entertainment options, but we recognized a need for greater representation of African, African Diaspora, Caribbean, and Black cultures. This became especially clear in 2023 after our first Musikfest Afrobeats Production, which drew a massive crowd that couldn’t get enough. The overwhelming responses filled our inboxes with requests for more Afrobeat entertainment in the area. Inspired by this demand, we made it our mission to grow, collaborate, and create regular opportunities for Afrobeat entertainment in the Lehigh Valley year-round.
What is your company's mission?
At Afrodance LV, our mission is to celebrate and share the vibrant energy of Afrobeats dance by creating an inclusive and empowering space for all. Through dynamic classes, performances, and community events, we aim to honor African & African Diaspora culture, inspire self-expression, and bring people together through the universal language of dance. Our goal is to educate, entertain, and cultivate a growing appreciation for Afrobeats in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.
What types of events do you have planned for the future?
